Heating Components

Post by Travis »

Can someone tell me if there's any other apparatus aside from a cable and the 2 levers, my car has not had any heating components at all for a while before she came to me, I now have new heater boxes and the levers at the boxes but I need to know what else I need to have heat for a change.

Thanks

Travis , what you need to do is look at a factory setup and figure out whaT you need from there - I recommend the " Bently " book , available from V.W. dealers and also car book shops , it is loaded with hard to find factory photos and specs not included in other books . best place to get sheet metal and heater parts is from junk engines , they usually sell for $25.00 os LESS , complete and have lots of little bits and peices you always need . to keep your engine running cool and also the heater hot , you need every single little bit of the sheet metal plus the rubber engine to body seal , you CAN install it with the engine in place , remove the rear bib for acess . I'd also convert to a doghouse cooler fan shroud if you haven't allready , this will boost heater output quite a bit right off the top - don't forget to get the fan too , it's different .

Good luck .

Isn't the doghouse the early shroud? Why does it put out more air?

I have all the components south of the passenger compartment at this point (do need to replace that engine seal though) but it's what's inside the car aside from cables and knobs that I'm not sure of?! I do have the Bentley, guess I should open it up huh Image

Thanks
