Re: Oxyboxer build thread
Thanks guys.
I know I said once that I should take some pictures of the making of the inserts, but I forgot...
However this guy makes them for sale:

Boring update, but after a couple of hours with the welder and some bondo, the tin is almost ready for paint:

Re: Oxyboxer build thread
Today I have had a look at the filter and velocity staks, and have come up with this solution:
First I started with making a hole in the top of a conventional dellorto/weber filter assembly and mount it to the TBs, along with a velocity stack. The stacks have too small ID, so I will put them in the lathe and take them down so that the ID correspond withe the TB: Then a peek down the filter: And finally the top goes on: These might be a bit tall for the Ghia engine compartment but I can always get hold of a pair of shorter filter inserts
Finally, shot of my son's project:

Not much progress, but I have finally landed on using the Denso pencil-style COPs along with a microsquirt ecu and an external box with the coil drivers.
Just mocked up the intakes with the COPs again to ensure it all fits:

CBR Honda coils. I have a set I got off ebay. They have a pretty wimpy spark but are nice and small
IGN1 flame throwers on the left, CBR coil on plugs on right.

I know they have a lesser spark than the edis coils for excample but will they give enough spark for a quite mild 2110 with about 9:1 compressionrratio? I think yes

Re: Oxyboxer build thread
A couple of crappy pics, but it starts looking like a proper engine now:
The ECU will be mounted in the red circle, so all wires will be nice and short
On the back side, I have cut and mounted the fuel line, and also the vacuum system is taking shape; I will be using an old breather box as a reservoir, and since my ECU uses an external MAP sensor, I will simply put the sensor inside the box. The box is currently not sealed, but tht will be fixed The ECU will be mounted in the red circle, so all wires will be nice and short

Make sure the external sensor is mounted so the hose nipple points down. They can collect condensation inside. I would mount the sensor next to or near your ECU then run a simple vac line to your vacuum block.

well my bike has 10+:1 compression and spins over 12krpm with that type of coil so i wouldnt be worried

Re: Oxyboxer build thread
Progress is slow, but the engine is more or less assembled, and I have prepared its new home by removing the "old" 1835cc:
I have lifted the engine down from my workbench, and trial mounted the new exhaust:
Hopefully it will be ready for initial start-up in not so distant future You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
