very pretty, a nice way to gem up a show car, and good for security, would be lost on a grubby engine

And not only do you get high dollar Hardware.... you get to pay an extreme dollar amount for the tools (probably). That 7 notches thing is just for propriety....

Yeah, new fastener designs are not always done for the best of reasons. Sometimes you might get the back story and go... Oh... Ok, I can see what and why that was done that way; makes perfect sense now. But then there is ... WHY

Yeah, I don't think it will make it to the Standards Books either. I have been hearing snippets/rumors that some of the off-shore countries/auto manufactures have been thinking about doing some switching to Whitworth fasteners (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Standard_Whitworth http://www.britishfasteners.com/threads/bsw.html http://www.team.net/sol/tech/whitworth-hist.html) I had some Whitworth specific tools at one time but they grew legs and ran for it.

A great quote from one of those hippy-dippy bands the kids are listening to these days sums thos up pretty perfectly "A brand new filling for a brand new hole"
give a man a watch and he'll allways know what time it is. give him two and he can never be sure again.
Things are rarely just crazy enough to work, but they're frequently just crazy enough to fail hilariously.
