Type 4 trigger hub

Post by Paul H »

The Type 4 trigger hubs arrived.
Made from steel billet 24-1 pattern

And the timing plate I had made for our workshop use to get the degree marks lined up on the bracket

Looks Nice!
Good quality is getting harder and harder to find.

Hi Paul, I advise a 24-2 TW.

I have FOUND that requirement necessary with high compression, light weight crankshaft style engines.

Lance I'm sure you maybe right but I think most applications would be less radical. I have to test on the dyno in the new year ,this design allows for use of different sensors and of course the end user could always cut another tooth off

The MSextra docs suggest the missing tooth (or sync>tooth#1) location should ideally be ~80 btdc or thereabouts, just due to CPU loading, there is less "going on" during that part of the cycle, little to no interrupts etc to delay things.

(firmware will allow ANY angle on MS2extra and MS3, but the "quiet time" of the cycle is still suggested)

Depending on the sensor setup, you may have already accounted for that.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

The hub in the pic is positioned about TDC and the gap is about 80 or 90 degree but the sensor can be positioned in the other holes if you wanted less. I don't think it makes much difference unless the ECU uses the missing tooth as the start point for injection in which case you could play around and produce similar results in two stroke mode as a full sequential setup without the complications
