It's being called a hillclimb but it's more like a high speed autocross. Lots of different car layouts, power levels, driver skill levels, etc. Even a beetle and a rear engined buggy.
The fwd cars are usually understeering, rear drive prod cars often under and oversteering, the real race cars are typically more balanced, too many drivers are too focused on keeping the motor revved to the moon which makes for difficult car placement, far too many want to be the king of the late brakers which kills your corner entry [ slow in fast out - fast in slow out ] and most importantly - SMOOTH IS FAST.

Nice bug, very well set up and balanced. That VW buggy is fugly though. You're right, it seems like they're not looking far enough ahead into the next corner.
