1973 Super Beetle stuttering after engine flush ,oil change

Post by Bud27 »

I flushed engine and replaced oil . The car ran great for a day then just started stuttering like it was out of gas . Had previous issues with rust in tank . Had tank flushed replaced fuel filter and cleaned tank internal filter . She ran great for a month then changed oil, flush and just won't run right it idles rough but wont accelerate . Cleaned plugs replaced fuel filters and checked firing order . Any help would be appreciated and Thanks in advance .

Pull the jets out and spray them with cleaner. They're brass looking bolts on the side of the carb.

The left manifold boot was leaking after I took out carb cleaned jets and all the grease and oil . I put it all back and same issue then I saw the gas dripping from the left boot .
Thanks for the suggestions . This requires removing all the lower tin and intakes right ?

Nah if its left side then you can get away with just removing the end casting from the head and manifold center section, replace the rubber boot and refit, its worth trying to do the rhs while you are in there though

Just to fully disclose, there are split boots available, but you have a less than stellar chance of making them work right.
