In the 15 minutes it won't restart, you will have to figure out what essential/essentials you're missing:fuel pressure, spark, or injector pulse.

Highest probability would be ignition module (hall trigger or driver) or fuel pump in the process of dying, although it could be as simple as crud in the fuel filter building up a plug, then falling off after flow stops, have not seen that on a Vanagon, but it's possible.

If some maintenance history was available it might help.

Still has original injection?
No evidence of overheating/oil pressure problems?
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

So it's overheating?
They have measured a large cylinder/cylinder temp variation with a sensor or IR temp gun?

Still can't see that stopping it from firing off at all unless its seized.

Good luck and please let us know how it goes.
