Kadron Question
I'm about to order Kadrons for my '74 Coupe. There are two items I need a little help with. Does anyone know who makes the short manifolds for Kadrons? Second is the spacer between the base of the Kadron and the manifold. What is it designed to clear and do they make shorter ones? Want to be sure BEFORE I spend the $$ on the parts. Thanks in advance.

Kadron Question
The usual solution is to remove the hood support springs and either install gas struts or use the time-honored prop-stick.

Check with AJ at Low Budget. I think he can provide an engineered solution.

You can get shorter air filter for the one side! You can order K&N's by size. Measure to see what size you need and go to your local K&N dealer and look at their book.

I just went the K&N route and figured out it was too expensive and you still needed to work on the filter a bit when you got it. If you want my story shoot me an email but I am just going to take out one of the springs.

Kadron Question
Looks like I'm the odd-man-out on this issue.
I 'borrowed' a set of Kadrons to use on my '71 Ghia - way back in the Fall of '92...
and I never had ANY issues with the way they fit. They even featured the large Old-school metal cheese-grater air-cleaners.
I never had to remove my hood springs..and I don't recall any spacers necessary for the manifolds.
...What I do recall ( and there are likely tons of people who know more about this than me )...is that, The carbs didn't provide any more power to my 1641cc motor than the 34 PICT-3 did.
That being said, thye motor DID run smoother and believe it or not helped me achieve 53mpg ( with the wind of-course )
But, in the end they were worn out and needed constant sync-ing and they were borrowed and I had to give 'em back.

Thanks everyone. I'll contact AJ and see what he can do for me. Always good to sound things out here before doing things. Always learning.

Kadron Question
Well, to tell the truth... I was disapointed in the 40mm Kadrons. My brother got a set of 34 ICT Webers for his Beetle and the HP increase was dramatic and noticable. But, I also have many friends tha swear by Kadrons...and I'm only one individual...and again, they were old and could have used some work.
In the end... I didn't seem to squeeze any more power out of the engine. Just smoother running.

Kadron Question
Decided not to remove the deck spring after i found some air cleaners at Kragens ( Monument had them too). They are Spectre P/N4790. $14/E They fit perfect on the Kads with just a bit of work. AJ couldn't find a K&N that looked like it would work and neither could I. These may be just a little small but those Empi filters were way too tall. Some one else had suggested this awhile back. If I could find the post, I'd thank him for the tip.
