Ok, new motor got everything buttoned up but cannot get the car to start without carb spray or holding my hand over the carb. holley 2 barrel prepped by aj sims. no vacuum leaks i can find. iver tried everything i can think of and need some help. It runs great spraying carb spray down the carb haha
Had an oil leak that turned nasty when I switched to Royal Purple. Looked like it was coming from the flywheel seal but it was on top of the case, thought it was coming through that inspection hole or whatever it is. Pulled the engine, replaced it, put it back in, lead worse than ever. Had to be coming from the shroud oil cooler. Pulled just the shroud, PITA with the turbo set up on. Put a new cooler in, so far so good. Now if it would stop raining in southern florida. 4th week of rain, beginning to remind me of summer in Michigan..only a lot hotter.
Just spent the last week doing a quick refresh on my motor, got it all installed yesterday, took pretty much all day. Managed to fire it up today, and after swapping rear tires and lowering it off of the jackstands i noticed a new puddle under it, looked up to see the source and could see a drip hanging from the flywheel side of the motor. No racing for me tonight!
Not sure if I have a problem or not. I'm wrapping up my first ever turbo install. I have a used IHI VF-29 from unknown subaru. Don't know anything about the miles on the engine, etc.
I have the turbo mounted at the exhaust inlet. The dump side is still wide open, with the integrated waste gate installed. The oil feed and drain are installed. The boost inlet and outlet side are not connected yet either.
Of course, I had to start it up just to watch the turbo spin. If I place my hand over the oulet on the compressor side, and bring the engine up to speed, i don't feel much pressure. So, my question, do I need to be under engine load? Will I never build pressure free reving
