002 clutchhouse on a 228 mm flywheel ?

Post by kleinbusR »

Hello

I've just pulled my CU 2L CSP converted engine out of my bus.
It suddenly stopped pulling, started fine, but couldn't take revs.
So now i'm in try and error mode :-)

In the bus it is mounted on a 091 gearbox with the large clutchhouse, and the long starter..no problem
To test the engine on the floor i thought i could use a 002 clutchhouse together with a ordinary type 1 starter.
But even after i grinded inside the house the starter can't turn the flywheel.is it the starter that blocks ? (it does have 9 teeth)

To get on i use my 091 gearbox and the correct starter....but i just wonder why i could not use the other setup.

Was the pressure plate off the flywheel?

Nope the flywheel and clutch is complete.
It seems like the starter teeths are stopping, when it engages/turns
i could turn the flywheel freely (with a wrench key on the pulley wheel)

Starter bendix/pinion will jam on the pressure plate, that is why the 2L starter is set back further from the flywheel and the pinion is longer(to clear the pressure plate). Ring gears on the flywheels stay in the same relative position.
