Tying the cage to the body with dimpled plates etc is not legal (I believe?) in drag racing?
There is going to be some body movement (torquing for example) especially when drag racing. The cage is not to be part of the body as I rememeber.

Fitment and removing the body is a problem I am trying to deal with myself. In one pix there looks to be a connector button allowing the cross piece to be removed. Is that true?

My goof   ! I was in a big hurry this am to get out of the house I miss-took the down bar to the firewall as a cross-piece. You are dealing with some of the same problems I am having planning on how to make my cage removable so the body can be removable.

Hehe, only removable bars is firewall, rear gearbox cradle/shield and the up-rights at the back.

Rest will be welded to the floor. OE ‘59 floors.. no swapping floor sides..

Body should lift straight up, at least it’s the plan.

You could have save some weight with aftermarket (those are thin) imitation panels...

Too late :D

Cage work is done! Found a rust spot on the underside of the rocker panels, and rear corners of the floor, so need to fix that after I pick up the car (April 13th is the pick up date) :)

Can't wait to dove straight in and start wrenching!

Project CFC#1, turbo, back halfed and light (new name)

Post by bug66 »

Swapped the name to the same name I have on the Cal Look Lounge.

Did some fettling witht the backside of the car during the weekend. No pictures yet, still need to make a stand to hold the rear apron "up" to have the body lines sort of line up.

Will show you when I have some more info.

Done some shopping also :)

New tires (Hoosier 23-5-15 up front and 26-9,5-15 at the back)
New wheels (Champion Billet 3,5" and 8")
Brakes etc etc.

Looking forward to see the car rolling with the right height for the first time

Too tall throttle bodies to even have a chance to have a engine lid

The solution
4ED29A68-9F4B-49F8-A191-A9B58FDFB4AD.jpg

Need some more welding under the flange, and a good amount of porting

The new plenums will be around here. Attached with 45degree silicone bends

Is that an IDA flange? IDF would be more compact and a 45 degree hose is also easy peasy.
Your complaining umsonst LOL!
