Re: Turbo/EFI Baja
I planed on swapping out the original speedometer for it but I’m not ready to lose my fuel gauge yet. I also haven’t figured out how to wire in a dummy light so my charging system still works. Cause it works now and I don’t want to mess it up and every wiring diagram I look at that is stock VW just confuses me.

Could you just mount the new speedo like you might a tach? Under the dash or something like that. If your just using it to log info..

I would be using as a total replacement. To allow for additional items in its previous location.

Re: Turbo/EFI Baja
Got some work done this weekend. Though got sidetracked a bit by this guy Saturday.

Just hanging out. I am NOT a snake guy so after animal control grabbed him. I got to clean the garage while the kid napped.
After all the excitement I got the nozzle tapped and installed. And the vacuum line I need run. The system I got came with a progressive controller I’ll give it a run but may rip it out this winter. Still need to finish wiring it up and finish a tank mount. Maybe tonight.

Yeah that snake would not work for me!
I'm excited to see how that water/meth works for you!

Re: Turbo/EFI Baja
Got the tank installed and wiring finished up tried to purge the tank last night but didn’t have any luck.
Got it primed this afternoon. So gonna get some runs in tomorrow on the way to work. Any one with water meth injection tune to it specifically or just leave your base tune?
Is anyone running table switching for ignition? Any thoughts are appreciated.

I have a few comments on that thread seems that it’s mostly trial and error. I’m gonna dig around.
Looking at table switching system armed vs not.
Also thinking I’m gonna wire up Launch Control tomorrow night and give that a run on maybe 3 psi.

Re: Turbo/EFI Baja
So took a drive into work and hit 20 lbs with no ping need to check IAT think they where around 110-120 so on a good third pull down from 180.
Only major problem is that I did not install a solenoid and I am pulling water while at idle. Putting me around 10/11-1 making idle pretty crappy also it quenches the flame front you can hear the cylinder miss.
Grabbed a solenoid from a friend at work luckily it should be a relatively easy wire in.
Though this thing pulls something fierce at 20 psi need to mine tune the manual boost controller a bit more.

Re: Turbo/EFI Baja
So car has been running good after getting a Solenoid hooked up so it’s not always drawing water.
Got the boost controller set at 21psi. Also after running this week did some mpg calculations came up with 25 mpg. I’m not mad about that!
Haven’t added any timing yet still at 18 for now. Looking to add in a knock sensor this weekend. So if anyone has any information on sampling windows
Also curious what people are using to keep carpet stuck up? I tried using heavy duty sticky Velcro but the heat here is winning.

25 mpg is pretty good!
And I don't know what carpet your trying to stick to what, but I use 3M high strength spray adhesive. Spray some on the panel, and spray some on the carpet, wait about a minute, and stick it on.

Turbo/EFI Baja
Trying to get the rear trunk area carpet to stick, also the driver side kick panel.
I’m pretty happy with the 25 mpg. It’s a huge change from what I was getting which I think was around 10-12. So double that is ok.
Also had a curious symptom I forgot to mention. In the top of 2nd around 4500 to 5800 it feels like the engine is fluttering. No strange noise, or anything it’s more of a feel as things are happening and trying to stare at the tachometer seems careless. Any thoughts? Thanks

Re: Turbo/EFI Baja
Yeah what's happening is your little 40hp engine is cranking out 200 hp trying to tear the tires off the pavement! Really I don't know how could even tell anything! In the top of second and not even at those rpms mine feels so violent and things are happening so fast I don't have a clue what's going on. I have to look at the log to even have an idea! Could you be getting some clutch slippage? Anything look weird on the log?
