Shimming the pressure plate out? Can I get them at ACE? Sorry for all the dumb questions.

I get them from Ace or Lowes. If you can't find them just measure some other washers and make sure they mic out the same or I'll throw some in an envelope and mail them to ya.

I should be ok on washers I’m more worried on finding an input shaft that I can weld on.

I might be going to a local guy that has tons of used stuff. I planned on looking for an input shaft for myself. I'll see if he has 2.

So clutch is on order, CB Super disk Kennedy stage two plate and an HD cross shaft!

Wish I wasn’t on the east coast it’ll be a week before I see it. But that gives me time to get my Intercooler mounts finished and maybe plumbed. I’ll have some photos up soon

Schweg, if what clutch option you are planning on doesn't work there may be one other option that I could/might give you but it is something I was warned as not being the best option for the street but for my off-road only circumstances it was a usable idea that has worked out OK so far.

Remember, the more pressure via. the PP driving on the street, especially in town where there are a lot of stop signs or lights a strong PP becomes more difficult and things, besides the cross-shaft, could break or premature wear out.

I'm not a big fan of shimming the PP even with light weight "machine" (stars, ripple or arc) washers but I have heard it is done.

Fact. That or I forget to call all together as the day gets busy.

Had a decent evening.

Got the old clutch out.

It was definitely worn on the flywheel side. A fair amount of liner below the pressure plate.

As a bonus I already had a HD cross shaft installed so that’s a win.

Got the new clutch and pressure plate on and torqued. With a little bit of coaching from Clonebug got ran a torque test. Held all the way to 150lbs. I don’t have a higher torque wrench or the ability to hold all the parts and the engine to test and higher.

Image

Almost got it all back together but I cannot seem to get everything lined up to get the last 1” or so.

Any advice would be great!

https://hotvws.com/content.php?contentID=62 The torque specs for a stock clutch setup are the 7th line down.

Schweg, what did the face of the flywheel look like? Did you put a straight edge on it's face to check for flatness?

Sometimes it takes a little wiggling to get it to go. Jack it up a little more and then wiggle it around a bit. Just don't force it.

Otherwise pull it and make sure the disc is centered by putting the spare input shaft back in and checking it. Also.....put a little neverseize on the splines and also a little grease in the pilot bearing.
