According to Vintage Speed their Type 4 equal length headers hang level with the engine sump, meaning more ground clearance for off pavement situations, obviously, especially important when a skid plate will already be decreasing ground clearance measurements.
My only complaint with this exhaust is that I'd be giving up some performance by not having a merged system. But all of the merged systems I've found online hang lower than the engine's sump.
Is there a Type 4 exhaust system out there that affords hot performance while affording high ground clearance at the same time?

Most likely like Wreck I cut down a set of stock T-4 heater box headeds .
I mounted A stainless steel exhaust from Bluebird which I bought from Just Kempempers in the UK. That was 30 years ago, same engine, the top photos is the car today. The two below were before I did the body work so you can see the complete system. Sounds great as for performance I have no clue. What ever you buy the stainless steel pays off. Stock steel does not last long. 30 Years ago I paid $250 for the system, now the prices are crazy. Than again the steel systems are more money too!!!!! May equal out.

The Type 4 exhaust, because the exhaust ports are on the bottom of the engine opposed to the Type 1s exits being on the the front and back of the engine, will always have an issue with ground clearance. I run a Tri-Mil system on my Baja Bug and I give you a photo of that system showing the ground clearance I have.

You have a 5 degree trans mount as well? Further increases clearance.
Typically made for 091 bus trans installation, may have to fab one for std t1 irs trans.
After seeing the quality of one I bought (and returned) I fabbed one for my sons 71 super with an 091, used std shifter/rod in tunnel.
It was about 2 degrees/ Road car.

zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

I know this is off topic, but I modified my intake manifolds to level out my carbs on my 5 car. Especially with the engine pitched up at an angle. Exhaust was a trimil with duel megaphones.
