Hello!
I am somewhat new to VW's. I found this when looking online for any info on the Superflo heads currently on my car.
Back in late 2018 I picked up this pretty awesome '72 Baja. It currently has a 2387cc engine.
I had a lot of fun with it in California, and then I got stationed out in Guam. Brought the car out here, and immediately began having issues. Went on a quick 8 month deployment, and came back to 3 wheel cylinders leaking, and the master cylinder not working. I retired the car in place for a while, and ended up purchasing a few things from CB Performance, because they reliably ship out to Guam. Next thing you know, I have a couple of conversion kits and disc brakes in the mail.
It took another 14 months to get those one, because I went on another deployment right as they arrived, and when I got back from the deployment, I had to go to California for a few months; not ideal. Well, while in California, in lockdown and unable to do anything except dream, and against my wallet's protests, I purchased a Gen 4 EFI kit from CB Performance.
Here we are, nearly 6 months later, and I have just recently completed installing the disc brake kit. Turns out, ball joints on these cars are quite painful without a press. Eventually, had new ones in on both sides, and the brakes went together quickly.
I drove to the store and back, stopping on a dime. Unfortunately... during my visit at the food library, something managed to bend the dipstick tube. So, yet again, I had to retire the bug until able to fix the issues plaguing it. I ended up having to drill the old tube out and wait a month and a half for a new tube to arrive.
I am currently working on installing the EFI conversion. Just plumbed my fuel line, although it is only a temporary location. I intend to re-route the line when I pull the body away from the pan eventually.
Hopefully we will have it up and running in the coming month.
Anyway, thank you for having me, and I will do my best to contribute to the wealth of knowledge contained here.
EDIT: It seems my pictures were too large to upload. Kept getting a HTTP Error message. Rather than resizing them now, I'll include them on future posts.
