2.2 WBX build and cam choice

Post by oildrips »

Hi there.

Looking at building out my 2.1 wbx into a 2.2 this winter. I'll be removing the factory injection and replacing it with ITBs. I'd like to keep the hydro lifters, and am wondering about choices for cams. I see that CB performance as a few options available, and would like to know if anyone has real world experience with the 2252, 2253, and 2254 cams. The engine is going back into my Vanagon High Roof, so I'm more interested in low end grunt rather than having it live on the edge. Currently, it cruises the freeways between 3700-4000 rpms, and I live at altitude.

Thoughts/suggestions/recommendations?

I REEEEEALLY hate that forums like this have given way to Facebook groups and such, but I'm sure you'll find more current people who've built, or are building WBX such as..

VW T3 Vanagon WBX Waterboxer Wasserboxer Engines

VW T3 Vanagon Turbo Fuel Injected Waterboxer

VW T3 ( T25 ) Knowledge Exchange

See you there.
