My Baja had the vinyl shock outer wears over the springs and them Sara made Velcro deals that would wrap around those to keep the silt and dust from coming through the shock holes. You would be surprised how much they helped. I think having a top is worse because there’s n where for it to exit.
What Baja5 is talking about are usually referred to now days are generally referred to as "Boots". (https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=au ... BasicHover) In this URL you will see other types of "boots" mixed in but mostly they are the shock "boots". Besides the Velcro straps I have seen hose clamps used also to hold the "boots" in place. Not sure if wire ties will work well or not.
Sleeves from a neoprene wet suit work. So does sheet metal enclosures.

Had to cover the old gps hole in the dash, and clear the switches, dash bezel, and windshield. If only I had a press brake in my shop I wouldn't have to get so creative with spacers to mount my iPad. Using the On-X Offroad app from now on. The Lowrance Baja 540c gps got evicted.

Do you like the Ipad better than the lowrance or does it just take up less space/perform multiple duties?
The Lowrance was a pain in the butt with any data entry. The iPad is all touch screen. And Lowrance doesn't update their maps or software, they force you to buy a newer model.
"Your car sounds angry, and it wants to go fast all the time..."
(quote from my daughter, after driving my car)
My car has never been easy to get off the line. With a tall first gear, and only about an inch of pedal travel for full engagement, it is easy to stall. Add that to rough terrain or getting stuck, and my clutch takes a bunch of abuse. While replacing the clutch (since the engine is out for the suspension upgrade) I had the flywheel resurfaced. It cleaned up nice.
I've seen burn marks (bluing) similar to that before and that was because the face of the flywheel had been turned too much and not had the PP mounting surface had not been turned to match the turning of the disc mounting area. When not dune the PP would grab the clutch disc could not grab the flywheel with the proper pressure.
Also riding or slipping the clutch can cause bluing like theat; "bang"/"deck" shifting with out the proper disc can a\cause this also.
For those who don't know "bang" or "deck" shifting is when you pull the trans through the gear without or minimal; e.g., just touching) pressure on the clutch pedal with the loud pedal jammed to the floor or using a slight/quick pressure relief by your tootsie . Done it but not often.
