Way back when you rebuilt that Suby, there was discussion about your shortening the oil pan for more clearance underneath. I felt then and still do that instead of just making the pan shorter, it should also be wider, like a road racing deep sump pan for an American V8. That way you could at least maintain stock oil pan volume, if not increase it. Just might make a situation like this less likely in the future.

Usually when this is done then the oil pickup tube is setup to rotate 180° to make use of the wider sump. When using the shortened oil pan, you don't reduce the stock oil capacity. You still run the required quantity of oil, and the dipstick marks are modified accordingly. I screwed up here, guys. I just didn't check my oil level for too long. Now, why it had consumed that much is probably another reason to crack that egg open and see what needs refreshing.

zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
