Angelo: I'm 90% sure that an earlier decklid will fit. Like the windshield and rear window size, the decklid SIZE did not change over all the years. But you might have differences with the lock pin. The big difference in decklids is that Ghias from about '67 onwards had a removable plastic rain deflector under the louvers, whereas before that year that area was formed by the inner metal lining.

As for the doors, the door SIZE did not change (at least no more than a few millimeters), but there are definitely differences with the latch and handles that may very well not fit your car.
See if you can study the door parts at http://www.karmannghia.com/shopping/sho ... gories.asp
to find your answer.

Roland, I think the rain-tray lids appeared in 71 when the 1600DP came in. The doghouse fan requires more CFM than the early vents would admit. My 67 came with a 1500 and had the old style lid.

BTW, some good pictures of the later style decklid and rain tray I have installed: http://63.230.74.177/ghia/page_01.htm

great thanks for the info guys.....yes it does have a metal deflector but i didnt have time to look at the latching mechanism...sometime this week i will get another chance. I hope that I can make this work somehow..the lid is in great shape on the outside with very minimal rust on the inside bottom section.

Hey Max... you should get a domain name sometime. :-) They're cheap! (And alot easier to remember than an IP addy.)
