Need professional resto info

Post by Ben »

I am new at the KG resto hobby and desperately need info, books, etc on step by step putting a 74 KG convertible back together. I bought the car with a beautiful paint/body finish and have nearly everything to complete the resto but I need help in wiring especially and detailed photos or the tricks of the trade/shortcuts on finishing out the car. A friend of mine who has extensive knowledge and esperience w/KGs and VW promised to help me complete the resto if I bought the car but poor guy's father has Alzheimer's and his brother in law has cancer! If I can not complete the resto and do an excellent job on it myself I am interested in hiring a professional that has extensive experience restoring KGs. No fly by night amateurs resto on this car, it is way too nice to screw up. Third and last option is to sell the car as is. Any suggestions and/or help would be appreciated. I live in Boone, NC (northwest NC). My tel #828-963-7091 and my email is bej51@hotmail.com :?

Carolinaslim, Good to hear from you. I have helped get started recently a VW club in this area. You and your VW friends are invited to join us. We are a chapter of the Good Ole Volks Club out of Kingsport, a great bunch of people. Call or email me and let's talk. Would love to see your KG. I have a ton of extra parts for KG if you need something and I have a 67 Beetle for sale approx. 50% restored, that I will sell cheap to use the $ on finishing out my KG. Looking forward to hearing from you, Ben in Boone, NC :D
