The 205 series is the base distributor that came in all type 4 engines...before the electronic ignition in the vanagon. There are quite a few similar variations. Almost all of them to my knowledge have mecanical advance...usually two stage...meaning a large and a small spring and most have vacume advance. Either single or dual. The advance curves vary, but they were set up for the type 4. They take the same cap and rotor as a 009. Most busses had them. The 205 series is also the base for the fuel injection distributor, though the non FI 205 was a little shorter. You will find part #'s like 022-905-205P...which is a D-jet distributor. But all have the 205 designation. Do asearch in the type 4 and 411/412 forums for letter code designations. These are easy to find. Ray

Bus depot sells these new.they come with points and all. I had to put one on for a customer last year................(she had an 009).it did well on the type 4 engine I put it on that had a Weber progressive. But I do agree the stock dizzy is the way to go especially if the FI is still present.
