Subject about says it all..
The plan is to build out a T4 engine with 80mm stroke and 103 / 105 mm cylinder+piston combo.
Does anyone know a link, where are pictures of the spots that require clearancing in the case?
And, is anyone familiar with Bernie Bergmann cranks? I'm thinking of buying one of their 80mm forger+counterweighted. Is the quality ok...any comments from the actual users?
Any recommendations concerning the cam and valvesizes? I'm thinking to build out a 48x40 heads for the engine. I guess that hydraulic lifters are out of the picture? Carbs are going to be 48 DRLA's...
Any other comments? The aim is around 200horses...
And...the engine is going to be on a 1500 '67 T3 Variant..so I guess that upright porsche fan is out of the question..does anyone have any experiences of the horizontal porsche fan...

T4 stroker crank + clearancing the case
If you want to know more about BB cranks look at the postings on PTP forum. Not to many people I've know over the past 4 years have not been satisfied with their work. There was a time when they offered quality, but not now! It seems like it is all about the money now! Do not get burnt!

T4 stroker crank + clearancing the case
Didn't we recently talk here about clearancing. While somebody was trying to get their 80mm with VW journal(?)to clear a big cam? Never have used the search feature here. There are a few pix on my site showing somewhat of the cam to rod to case stuff. Anybody got better available??
I would steer clear of BB for anything just from what I've heard and read. I have seen his cranks and while they looked "nice", I didn't like the full circle with lightening holes counterweights. Totally useless in my book. And I didn't measure one up, either.
BTW, I'm doing about the same transplant as you are doing. I might add some new pix this weekend of where I'm at on my 2650cc T4 powered '64 Notch. Check out my site for some ideas and/or give me some!

I also have not used the search feature. The problem was with an 80 stroke Chev. journal setup. Brian is waiting on a smaller base circle Web cam to fix the clearance issue I beleive. .?
I am hoping my 78 stroke, VW Type 1 journal clears my large Schleicher Nockenwellen.

Hello guys,
thanks for the replies, I really think, that I'm going to skip the BB-stuff for my project. With all I've heard this far really makes me think it over again...
Which on your personal, tried-and-true, experiences is the choice for crank? I would like to get the best for my buck...Of course it is -usually- so, that to get cheap and good you'll have to buy them both...
