Longbeach, did you replace the seat belt relay or bypass it? If you want to bypass it, I found my color copy of the 74 412 wiring diagram, now I see a way to eliminate the blasted interlock...it looks easy enough, one jumper and no more worries with the relay.

Also, doing the bypass relay modification (at the starter) to get full voltage to the solenoid (it draws something like 20 Amps while pulling in!) will help, too. All that wire, the ignition switch, and the shifter neutral safety switch all can cause enough voltage drop to make the solenoid not pull in consistently.

Hey MGVWfan, thats already been taken care of, look at 3 or 4 postings back. The relay was toast and I just jumpered the starter leads. Also the auot safety switch has been bypassed for now. No she starts like a bazooka :) and my problem at hand right now is the brakes. Will be starting with the wheel cylinders soon. Thanks a bunch for caring aand will keep the gang here posted when I get something done. Peace to all
