So finally an verry small (only text) update.
Last monday and thuesday evening I've worked on my bug what I didn't had done the last 1,5 month.
I've cutted out an verry rusty piece in the trunk and welded an self made piece in it. Also some rusty spots on the place were the trunkhood sits on the body were changed for new pieces.
That's all for now folks.
I hope to do some more update-ing soon... so my car will finally be finished in a year or so.
Greetings Wiebrand

SO tonight I've worked an hour or 5 at my car. Checked several weldings for not being good, welded them and grinded them.
Here are some pics of it.
And also some pics of the new piece I welded in last sunday at the trunk.
That spot off course has to be welded at the other side (that's on the planning for next time).
That's it...

Hi Passatman, If your IRS-mounts are welded on the ride spot en with good welds there are no problems with conversion to IRS. Tou only get an better roadhandling car.!!Passatman wrote:I also would like to convert my swing axle beetle to irs rear end is this conversion safe. Will i have any problems with the chasis twisting.

Hey Ben
Everything oke? You went to Spa?
Yes there will be a lot of bodywork to do
Tonight I also worked 2 hours (that I could make free) on my car.
This is the result of al the welding and grinding in the trunk.
Tonight checked the weldings on the underside of the A-pilar, the dashboard and by the sidewindow.

At first an mold is maked from wood for the "Remelle" air-intake.

Reinforcing the front control arms
So saturday I had an day of, so I could work an hour or 6 on my car. At the same time we (my brother and I) are swapping an GSI-engine (2ltr 16V) from an Opel kadet E into an Astra F (original 1600).
I worked further on reinforcing the front control arms. At first al the 4 plates were made correct. After that I've drilled them and welded them to the control arms.

Welded on the control arms.
Grinding the welds smooth.

This now at 50% finished there will be welded some extra plates so it really becomes an "box".
