Okay, this might sound simplistic, but try disconnecting the lead from your ignition coil to your tach on the dash. It could simply be (periodically with vibration) grounding out along it's travels, and causing the low RPM dive. Why do I suggest this?: Because it happened to me once (not with F.I., mind you). And it took me a while to find it. In fact, when my tach wire finally vibrated away long enough (eliminating the periodic short), the sudden reinstatement of ignition to the cylinders caused such a backfire that it blew my muffler apart right at the seam.
Sound familiar?
In fact, it could even be the tach itself that has failed.
Your brain automatically starts thinking of the more complex stuff, especially with all of those D-Jet components, but sometimes you can't let the complex stuff cloud your brain. Start simple, and work your way up.
"Occam's Razor."
Good luck,
Travis
