Post by Mavuto »

Figured I enjoy seeing everyones photos on here so much that I'd put my recent ones from yesterday.

Ghia's look GREAT as silver cars. That basecoat looked awesome but Kandy Red was what I was after. Can't wait for the pictures outside. The car has some microflakes that are reflecting a little much in the pictures. They are tiny and small, and NOT 70's microflake. Anyhow... hope to have pictures in the Sun. 17 coats of the Kandy.... that's got to be deep. (I haven't actually seen the car in person yet).

More info on my project can be found at my Club's website. Highlights are Narrowed front beam from Franklin VW werks (Awesome GUY!!), IRS conversion from Swing in the back, and narrowed trailing arms by Bruce in Vancouver (Another great person), Turbo engine from Ken King and Concept1 in Calgary, paint by Mark Idt of Mission auto...ect. Sorry.. just excited...

I think this is a better idea of the colour. I will have pictures of it in the sun when I pick it up this Saturday. (I hope)

Thanks Michael... your Ghia is in my all time top 3 list... I'm hoping I'll like mine more. (winks). I saw the car at the shop... looked awesome but has a lot of polishing/sanding work to be done to flatten out the 20 layers of paint. Each time I've tried to pick up the car something has happened. The new timeline is tomorrow.... so if I DO actually get it, I'll take some pictures of it out in the sun before I carry it into the garage and kick the nice pan out in the snow. (sigh). What I REALLY want to see is the car under street lights at night. That will look really amazing.

Car looks so different in the sun. Still need to sand and detail the paint. (As well as put everthing back on the car)

Just mounted the body to the chassis this weekend. The right side is a little off... i.e... hard if not impossible to get the bolts in right now. Guess it spread out a bit over the long time I had it off the chassis. I'm also searching around and scratching my head as to where my chassis mount bolts went. Anyhow... here are the pictures as requested.

Berg 60% throw shifter, powdercoated frame. (Thanks again to the guys and girls at Gene Berg who took my phonecall Friday when I realised I had lost my instructions and had little clue as to what I was doing). The hole that is cut out there by the shifter... that's a previous owner thing

Sitting ready for the Body. (more or less. Less then more).

Now isn't THAT a rake to make a Camero jealous!!! ... Obviously not going to last. Mighty aggressive. (and umm.. fugly).
