I do alot of cartoons and such for the web and use the Adobe Flash program, (hobby). In my laziness it is just easier to use my Wacom tablet and draw right into the program. Then it is already sized up for the web. Not the intended purpose of the program, but serves the purpose.

oh ok, i want to draw out my wiring that i have in my car, but i cant find any decent programs, that dont cast my left testical.

Then the question would be Steve is this something i could learn or somebody could teach me to do fairly easily

Sorry steve i was so hyped about the drawing program i forget about your question

Yes your last drawing was 100% bang on and will serve you quite nicely yes you could run an off indication off of 87a

as far as the leds are concerned get preassembleded led indicator lights then you do not have to worry about ballasting the led with a resistor to make it light

Here is a another practical example for useing the 87a pin

power , from a fused source to a switch ,from switch pin 30 , from pin 87a to your headlight low beam ccts ,from pin 87 to your headlight hi beam cct add a switch to activate your relay coil and you now have a very simple headlight hi/low beam control cct
just make sure your first switch has a decent current rating i use this cct in my own car and i run 85/100 watt headlight bulbs

Thanks again Bob! I appreciate the education. Unfortunately if I understand you correctly, the following would be true:

O-Ring Toggle Switch $2.36
20 Amp Circuit Breaker $2.73
12 Volt LED $2.00
Bosch 30 Amp Relay $4.50

So for around $12.00 with some terminals and wires I could have saved myself $50.00 on a "pre-made" harness. Thanks Bob, thanks alot!

steve yeah you pretty much got it i buy my 5 pin relays 30 at a time so my price is down to 2.10 a piece
like i said buy an led indicator light assembly then you don't need to buy a resistor

just google automotive relays there was one site i saw that if you bought 10 they were 2 bucks
just looked at ebay motors about 10 minutes ago some guy has ten packs of 30/40 amp rated relays for sale at 6.95 so thats 69.5 cents apiece

Been reviewing my notes from this thread, laying out the circuits and developing a shopping list. As far as the Toggle circuit I think we have beaten that horse silly, but just wanted to confirm the headlamp circuit. If it was wired as pictured, then one could turn on their lowbeams without the car on and then highbeams with the car ignition on. Would that be correct? Or would it be best to have both on ignition or is it simply preference?

Finally, if your still in the giving mood... what circuit would you suggest for an ignition interupt controlled by a mom switch?

Steve let start by saying now i am really jealous,those are absolutely kick-ass drawings, the first two ccts are perfect , if you like the idea of the off indication by all means run with it

and if you like your headlight to function that way thats perfect as well

Here is another little tweek i have in my car as i am forgetfull at times, on your head light drawing

come from your bottom 12v supply fuse, to pin 30 of another relay ,take pin 87 to your toggle switch, Grd pin 86, and give pin 85 a feed only when key is on, this cct will then kill your lights when key is off so you never forget to turn your lights off

this is my idea of a mom key if you wish and secondly none of my customers cars leave my shop without one of these installed pretty much without exception

are you wiring a baja?

if you go with the above pictured type of switch we can go over its installation as well

That sounds like something that would be useful to me

I am going to be making certain "upgrades" to my baja's wiring to make things more user friendly, I hope. When I do these things I would like to keep all of these "upgrades" independent. Would a terminal block be my best route? If so, what is the "safest" way to pull battery power to the block? (batteries are in car, fuse block under front hood)
