Dual port engine was stock for 1971. However, all other things being equal, single ports will give more low-rpm torque and net you better fuel mileage. 87RON is supposed to be headed to $4. per gallon by end of summer; around SoCal it will probably be there by mid-June! So the single ports make some good sense if one has a consistently good link between the right foot & the cranial computer... unless your family owns a gas station!
