I did the same on my ghia. It's wonderful to R&R the engien. Carbs don't need to come off and the car can sit on the ground.

It is something VW should have done fifty years ago. I like the two side panels that smooth out the engine compartment.

Not a problem. The battery box should be ready to install this weekend.

The box is ready to install. MArk had a chance to make the knurled nuts to hold the clamp down. The sutds are lenghtened 10 mm head studs.

You came to the show late. That was the first problem I considered. All the bolts have easy access. The bracket that attaches to the drivers horn bracket has the nut welded to it. The omly bracket that could not use existing brackets will have a doubler plate with both bolts welded to it making the installation an easy one person operation. The bolts can be tightened or revoved from above or through the access hole.

Bumper bracket viewed through shift rod access. If the bumper was being used the bolts would get swapped out for studs.

The cable will run down the passenger floor against heater channel. It will be encased in wire loom and have grommets where it passes through the body and aluminium covers where needed.

Thanks, now the $64,000 question, does the spare tire still fit?

I was planning on using the bumper mounts to also mount mine and get this

relocation kit from summit racing that uses the 1 gauge welding wire.

The tire has to go on the gas tank. That aluminiium box looks real nice. If you are going drag racing they require 3/8 hold down bolts, hence the 10 mm studs they pass for 3/8". I would also put a thick piece of rubber over the + terminal to prevent a dead short in an accident.
