Top three 914 books to own

VW based Porsche. In a league of its own.

Haynes is the most common I've seen, must have or let it lie?

Top three 914 books to own

Post by plasmacutter94 »

Ok, I've searched a bit, and realized a simple question might suffice:

In your opinions, what are the top three books to own, if you are a bolt-turning owner of a 914. Obviously different books have different strengths, so a top three list gives you the option to combine books with overlapping sections for the best overall knowledge base.

You can base it on cost of book, quality of illustrations (old Haynes manuals were great, I thought, Chilton kinda sucked). Availability, depth of information, expertise, or that a certain book simply contained the best darned section on one aspect of the 914.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks!

The only serious alternative is the official set of shop manuals. But at over $350(!) a set (I think there's 3 or 4 in the set), the Haynes is a great book for the price. Nothing affordable comes close though.

Here's a link to the manual for sale from Pelican Parts:
