New Porsche owner with question about Euro 914

Post by PatchLanders »

Hi gang, I recently acquired my 1975 914 and I understand from it's badge that it's an "European Specification"...as I am new to this car, and I'm learning - and love it! What does that MEAN exactly? A collector friend (who doesn't collect 914's) said he thought it was rare ... any thoughts from the experts?

Any information is appreciated, I've dreamed of owning one of these bad boys since I was 7 years old (and this car was new) and I'd love to learn more about this one!

I'll include pics next post.

Oh, and where would I find the engine number on this model?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Dont think its euro

From a quick glance,I would say this is not a euro car because the front signals are all amber instead of amber/white or all white. Also,IIRC,there are no euro front side markers.

Welcome to the STF!

I don't know about rare, but it looks like a clean car from the pics.

The main difference in the euro 2.0s was a slightly higher CR. (smaller dish in the pistons)

The tailight and turn signal lenses could easily have been changed to US spec, or the logo script could have been swapped.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
