If anyone has or knows of any diagrams concerning heat/climate control in an air cooled Vanagon I would LOVE that info! I don't have a Bentley Manual yet. I've been piecing the puzzle together and working on it between a 3 year old, work and everyday life(wife at wits end).
I have recently(yesterday after work) gotten the heat working partially in my 1982 Vanagon. I've been having a hard time finding information, or any info at all, that is Vanagon related. Diagrams showing the placement and connection of all tubing and cables would be great.

I am hoping the above is not your problem. I would suggest taking the hoses a loose from the heater core and use a garden hose to check the flow. They have a heater control valve also that can be stopped up.Tech News 87-N02

A slight "internal" compression leak into the coolant system of a water-
cooled Vanagon is not always easily diagnosed. But what your customer
tells your Service Advisor may be very helpful to pinpoint such a
problem:
* Temperature gauge needle moves into the red
* Very little or no heat output
* Coolant refill tank overflows
* Air in the coolant system
If one or a combination of these symptoms apply, be suspicious of a
compression leak between cylinder sleeve and cylinder head. Either
the metal sealing ring (1) or the 'O' ring (2), or both may be damaged.
(1) is the outer most sealing ring; next to the cylinder head.
(2) is the inner most sealing ring; next to the cylinder sleeve.

Hot, humid air is less dense than cooler, drier air. This can allow a golf ball to fly through the air with greater ease, as there won't be as much resistance on the ball.

Well, actually I'm looking for installation/maintenance informational diagrams, photos, ordering info, etc.. for air-cooled Vanagon climate control parts. Thanks though!

Re: Air Cooled Vanagon Diagrams
I made a vague information request hoping to find more info than I thought I would find. I was hoping someone might hand me a pot of gold that I haven't been able to find. Let me be more specific...
1- On the heater control box there is a lever, connected to a cable, that opens and closes the flap to direct the heat from the heat exchangers to the passenger compartment. I need to know the hardware needed to connect the cable to the lever on the heater control box. The cable has been there for years, not connected to anything.
2-There is also a metal mount that anchors the cable to the chassis immediately before the heater control box. I would like to know about any hardware at this connection, too.

Been there. Thanks for taking the time though!
Tell me about it! It is near impossible to find what I'm looking for.

It should be the same type of barrel nut that connects throttle cable to carb linkage on older single-carb VW's. Also just tie a wire from lever to frame and wire the boxes open that way
