good stuff now you can make a few sets, are you finding it hard to take the fins off? also by the arrangement of the Deutz looks like you are about to launch some serious fireworks.

I suspect that lathe will pay for itself in no time.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

They're not econimically feasible guys....unless you want 10mm thick cyl walls for turboing.
a set shipped is $175 and it's costs about $400 to turn them into usable parts for a T4.....
Unless your machinist works for $20 per hr!
:)

I think they will hold 21PSI, as that is what the twin T3 Super 60s are purported to be able
to push in my configuration and hence the reason I want to build/use them.

THe fins come off like "butta" with a 4" angle grinder and I have cut them down ONLY far enough
to be able to move the turret to the other side of the cylinder. I'll have to take more off
here and there to get them in the block.....

I'd be SKEERED to launch anything in the air that is 100mm across!
;)

I found it best to take the fins off before trying to turn the cyls, cause at 1200rpm,
even that little bit of extra weight on one side makes her shake just a bit!
;)

They are some heavy BASTIDS! THe 4inch chuck couldn't hold the far end true at speed
so I ended up making a centering holder out of an old lawnmower blade: :)

Made it a couple thou over so when the centering spindle is pressing on it, it is then
the right diameter, othrwise, it ends up being too short.
:)

I kept the gnarliest cyls for myself, saved the oiliset ones for DAmo(in case I have to
ship to Australia) and then mailed the last 4 to Bill.

The dingleberry cleaned it up a treat though! Then I ran my ridge reamer around it.

I knocked the lower fins off with a hammer and screwdriver to make it faster/easier to take off with the
grinder:

Even after 3 days soaking in WD-40, my pressure wsher wouldn't take off the baked on crud between the cyls.
But a hammer and an ice pick would!

Christmas in May! The forged 104mm, 22mm pin pistons came today.......
I have 8, so if anyone needs a set of 4, PM me. I'll cut you a DEAL! With rings and keepers,
NO PINS!
:)

Enjoy!

Sawzalls (preferably variable speed) with the coarse demolition blades have many uses...
Great for cleaning out cooked on crud between fins ~instantly.

Would work even better w/jug slowly spinning on a lathe.

Even works on the heads for removing casting flash, most of it, anyway.

Those used or new, or "only used for 500 miles" pistons?
