I was on my way to work tonight and got the call -- no work tonight, but we need you here tomorrow at 6 am (chit) -- Drove home and dug into tearing the engine apart -- -- all the bearings and rotating parts are perfect...... I must be hearing chit... but better to check than to be lazy and have it fail.

Shipped the 6v Flywheel off to Kennedy on Monday -- got it back on Friday with a 'new' 12v ring gear installed, machined for and installed dual disc clutch system and the old FW surfaced for future abuse.
Went over to CarCraft today -- -- luckily Ed was there to help me get all the bearings I needed -- I had forgotten all the stuff that had been done on this engine -- Ed had the small journal SBC rod bearings -- then He pointed out the type 4 center main bearing (oops, I forgot about that) -- He said that T4 bearings were non-obtainable and they were having to buy new old stock (showed me a box that looked 20 years old) and if I wanted to replace the center main it was gonna cost me $75 for a set of bearings -- so we inspected the existing bearing and it checked out perfect so I'm gonna reuse it
What the hell are all you T4 guys doing for bearings right now?? --
Going to drop back a little on cam size from a .626 lift to .577 hoping to ease a little stress on the valve train

I got my Kirkey seats in yeaterday so I took the Narrow-ass Cobra seats out the Ghia today to sell -- took a couple of photos while I was at it --- Damn .. .. this thing is low LOL

Well..... the short block is back together
Went out to Shag's shop today and picked up a set of his light weight machine tooled lifters then the son and I spent about 4 hours of quality time today in the garage --- as much of a learning experience for him as him helping me not to forget to do any thing. So the cases are together with the pistons hung. I want to recheck the rod bolt torque one more time before I put the barrells on. Good Day

Yep --- Might have to pull it back apart it is not spinning as easily as I would like it to -- DAMN IT

I've had this thing apart twice now -- the 1/2 inch main bolts are torqued and it is still spinning freely -- the second I put the outer nuts/bolts in and start tightening them it binds up -- It has to be the cam bearings (new) but When apart I can't see the problem --- I'm about to stick the old bearings back in this pig (they are in excellent shape)

Welllll, after I got the short block together, it stopped spinning, Hmmmmm, disassembled, couldn't find/see anything wromg. Reassembled, torqued down middle 6 bolts still spinning,

Started to tighten the outer bolts, sticking again. AHHHH cam bearings, Disassemble, looking and looking and there it is right in front of me. Damn the thrust bearing are about .005 above the caps on both sides. Hmmm, look at the other half -- Damn, it is the same way. Play with them a bunch and determine that I had installed them correctly and there is just something funky with the bearings. Grab the almost new ones that had just came out of the case and they fit perfectly. Screw it, the old ones going back in.

Reassemble --
It was recommended to me to use Yamabond 4 semi drying instead of good old Gasketcinch for sealing the case halves. I have never had a problem with gasketcinch sealing the halves, the problem was always when splitting the cases (very hard) and the cleanup prior to reassembly. This Yamabond stuff is cool, so far. And the cleanup is like just wiping it with a rag and the stuff peals right off.... NICE

50 lbs -- can go up to 75, but 50 is enough for my application
