old member checking in.

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

Well I just started settling into my new house, picked up a bug to baja. Still have the buggy. Going to roll it into the hay barn and let it chill for awhile. Nice to see you all again.

Last time i was here, Leatherneck was driving the bomb pop and trying to get out of AR... it's been awhile. I *think* i was registered as Otis at the time, but the memory keeps leaking like our VWs-- and Lucas doesn't sell anything to plug the leak.

I'm surprised (and impressed) to see so many familiar names still here. Or back again, based on what I've read this morning.

Will be back in the next day or two to post my old-school rail for sale. Time to grow up a little and face reality-- I've put it off as long as i could. It sucks to admit my wants/dreams have little relationship to my skills/patience/finances... Just a slow learner, i guess.

Reality is i'll probably never put the rail to use like it should be. It's too nice to just be taking up space in the garage. Needs to go to a good home for a little rehab and start kicking up dirt again.

I didn't recognize luddite but I sure do Otis, good to see you back but sorry to hear about you selling your rail. I made it out of Arkansas and the Bomb pop doesn't look or act like it used too 8) Welcome back, don't be such a stranger.

Leatherneck-- i seem to remember checking in here at one point and you were contemplating doing a widened baja. Did you ever do anything with that? Or is my memory faulty?

Glad to see you're still around. I always admired your straight forward approach to things.

It's weird what i do remember. One of the guys was trying to build a perimeter frame for a fibrglass buggy and it kept twisting on him. Ol'fogasaurus maybe?

Thought i has the rail sold locally, but it fell through this afternoon when he realized he couldn't get in and out of it. Not as agile (or as young) as he thought he was. And momma got wind of it sooner than he anticipated  ...

I haven't heard the term Luddite for such along time I had to refesh myself on the term (someone who doesn't understand something so he/she destroys it. Based on a character named Ned Ludd at the start of the industrial revolution in England).

I don't remember fighting the pan twisting as much as the pan halves themselves being a pain in the poo-poo. I finally accidentally discovered the fix... by accident. The build is still in progress but about 5 feet further down the road now.

SHHHHHH, they get wind of this and I won't hear the end of it till it's done.

Yup Lee is still at it, I think he keeps working on it so he has Garage Security. 8)

Sorry but glad the rail didn't sale, the right Off-Roader will be along soon.

It is good to have you back, that memory is on spot buddy.
