VW parts at wholesale

Post by echocanyons »

Don,
I mentioned ebay not specifically because of Ebay but my experience with some of the vendors who run legit businesses and also use ebay for commercialization and additional sales. I guess I could have left the Ebay part out.
It sounds like Steve was willing to work with you, even if he did sell something that wasnt advertised.
I dont personally know him and I dont have a side on this issue one way or the other.
I was just trying to share some of my experiences with the list
Don, I'm sure you are upset about the whole deal with Steve but I kindof got the impression that you wanted feedback(what with you posting on a bulletin board and all) but it seems more apparent that your intention was just to flame Steve.
Again I guess I'm just expressing my experience and opinion since this is a bulletin board

vote with your pocketbook.

I don't think there is any need to flame steve.

As there are atleast 3 others that were treated to his special form of customer service, I'll guess that the rest of the on-line community will know where to shop.

I'll leave you all to make your own choices in the future, but I think I'll be forgoing the discount in the future for surity in price, condition, shipping, delivery and customer service.

Too bad realy, as I always though of this as a hobby supported by the little guy and the shade tree mechanic.

another era passes.

Kelley,
If you look at my posts, I was first trying to get feedback from someone who knew him since I wasn't getting a response from him or getting my parts. My posts from then on out were just updates on what was happening. You do appear to be taking a side since you congratulated me on getting my parts when they were still stuck at UPS for three more days over the weekend with the wrong address, you think that one month is acceptable for a delivery and you would trust sending the parts back. If I was sent the money first I would gladly send the parts back. The offer was to send the parts and I'll send you the money....yeah right. If a dog bites you would you stick your hand in his mouth?
In thirty years of playing with VWs I've only had three bad experiences. One was an advertiser in Hot VW Mag that went bankrupt after I sent the check for my parts and the other two have been private individuals.

Don,

No really, I have no side on this matter.

I guess the biggest difference I can see between my experiences and yours is the lack of communication I have always used updates on where the things are and whats going on to ease my mind. If the delivery is nearing a month(which by the way is not acceptable with me, but has happened and usually with sufficient reason) the communication is usually frequent.
I think it sucks that when you finally recieved the parts that they were unusable, that is inexcusable and you are right I probably would cut my losses and just have learned a lesson instead of sending them back and awaitng a check that may not show.
I too have been burned by a 914 parts dealing company and am wary of whom I chose to do business with.
Don on congratulating you on getting your parts before. I feel if they are at your postoffice they are close enough and would be delivered soon--I meant no sarcasm if thats what you thought.

BTW why hasnt Steve spoken up?

Anyways why take a chance.

Regards,
Kelly

I have never dealt with Steve, nor plan to, so I can only comment of what I've read over the past few years. IMO, it is a shaky feeling I get from a number of forums regarding doing business, some of his attacks on other businesses through an 'alias' posting that others traced back through the internet to his computer, missing parts, wrong parts, not as advertised parts, etc etc .....

On the other side of the coin, I HAVE heard a few people get what they wanted as well, so it's up to you, like going to the casino. Things may go good, but perhaps the chips are stacked against you based on the years of feedback .....

Thats all I've read over a number of different forums, a couple different business name changes apparently, etc. Mostly he was dealing with 914 / Type IV stuff ..... perhaps ask for updated feedback from them .... he may have gotten better ....
