Not as big as they appear...they are extremely thick (and heavy) cast SS weld-els. ID is only 1.5". They are typically used in steam pipe applications, but my brother likes to use them because they weld up nice (chamfered edges) and are virtually indestructable. He typically does much shorter work with jap import headers, but he's used to working with the material.

I'm worried 1.5" might still be a bit too big, but we'll just have to see.

Sounds good. But, I noticed you didn't bother to let the turbo spool down before you shuit it off. You'll fry the bearings in the turbo really quik if you don't let it spool down.

I forgot to mention, that was a 1-time thing to get a read on the plugs to check for lean burn while on boost. We were using a wideband AFR (innovate LM-1) but it's good to get confirmation from the plugs...my mechanic is somewhat old-school. That run was mild too, only took it to 4K. All of the other runs ended with a few minutes of idling to let things cool down. I do the same when driving it...at least 30 seconds, more if I have been driving hard...usually cruise slow (no boost) the last couple blocks to allow things to cool. At least, that's the plan...have not driven it much yet...a few details to take care of before taking it out regularly.

Thanks for the tip! :)

We had already done the "runs for record" and since I have a stock bottom end and valve train, we only took it to 4500 rpm max. I was too "distracted" the night before to get vids of the actual runs...this one was done just for video before we unhooked the motor and hooked by bud's up.

Thanks!

Please forgive me if this sounds stupid. I dont know all that much about turbo charging etc, but I was under the impression that you need an intercooler with turbo chargers? What am I (obviously) missing here?

Thanks!

He is running a pull through set up with the turbo pulling the fuel through the carb, If you were to run a intercooler with a set up like this you may have a hard time with keeping the car from blowing up!

I also have to say, I took a ride in the Cosmos car (with the turbo) and I think it may be the fastest car I have been in!! not to mention the absoulte sweetest!! It was my first ride in anything turbocharged. It was quite an experence to say the least.

to revive this thread, quick question, does it fit under the decklid? The sound of that thing is luvely, absolutely luvely. I've been digging the turbos, but looking for something that would fit underneath, a sleeper.

Here is a picture of what it looks like now. It fits, albeit with a mod to the aircleaner. The v-stack in the top is to help make up for some of the breathing loss due to the aircleaner modification.

Also, I am building a 1968cc longblock soon!
