Deutz engine rebuilders.
They apparently throw the jugs away.

Jakob at Get back on Track , (a Face Book page) has new Deutz cylinders machined ready to fit . he can also supply 'gas seals' for better cylinder sealing with the head which can be an issue with big bore type 4's .

Found this on ebay in a few seconds...

And this...

Seems incredibly cheap to me even down under. I guess the machining and pistons is where the money is?

Thats for new/Chinese. You want the used ones as iron gets better with age and use/heat cycles, the final part will be better mechanically.
The cylinders are almost free, the machining costs the money.
Jakob likely uses good old German used jugs.

Remember, for anything in a machine shop, setup is ~90 percent of the cost.

I believe, the Deutz production moved to India, so that would be new/India. An I agree with Piledriver, used heat cycled cyl's would be the way to go, including Type lV, the cyl movement is set and won't change or if it does very little, even after boring.

I keep forgetting that India is now the new China....
India is already home to the worlds largest manufacturer of heavy equipment--Mahindra.

It cost me $500 AUD to get my second hand cylinders bored from 100mm to 103mm because they were hard and the machinist could only take small cuts on his boring head . Every Deutz engine rebuilder I've spoken to wants up to $50 for each scrape cylinder once they hear why you want them . bastards . It makes it a very expensive cylinder once machining costs are factored in .
On the next big bore engine I think I'd like to try the new AA 98mm biral kit . Less material removed from the case and the heads . I'm not sure if the Deutz cylinders cool better but I'm running 10.4 comp with a C55 scat cam and the engine runs cool as a cat . Even on 35C humid days my head temps never go over 135C when stuck in traffic , thats with omega thermocouples JB welded to the plug boss and a MGL TC-1 gauge . Once moving and with a bit of fan speed the heads drop to 115C on average .

So who carries those 98mm Birals and do they require case machining??

That's exactly the sort of thing I was concerned about. All machining is exy down under. :(
