bug66 wrote: Mon Dec 17, 2018 8:23 am Small update on the new car / cage / backhalfing.

3" up and 3" in.
Looks great! I'm still trying to figure out how to pull off a raise narrow like that and retain my back seat and rear sheet metal.
Thanks, really happy with the outcome so far. Far beyond the skills I have my self, so nice to outsource it to someone you know does really good work!

I think it can be done with a parcel shelf raise or notching and welding in new metal

Took my engine apart the last couple of weeks. Kinda looks good, except the bearings.

All stuff is on order, except ARP2000 rod bolts.

bearings are stock Kolbenschmidt. Crank is grooved also, so I'll swap to plain bearings.

Crank is a bit dirty, but all surfaces are really good.

Are your spark plugs the correct length for your heads? It almost looks like they could be too long and protruding in to the combustion chamber, maybe just me, I was taught several years ago to always index spark plugs prior to head install. What oil are you running? Bradd Penn also Penngrade has cured bearing and flat cam issues for several of my friends.

I don't think you can see it clearly in the pics, but I've doubled the washers so they are fluch on the chamber side.

This year 15W50 VR1. I think I'll swap out to an oil that is more E85 friendly.
