You will crap when I show you a picture of the foundry my dad bought on craigslist. We haven't used it yet. It has a big 240 volt blower motor, and holds about 4 gallons in the crucible. It has a huge ladder frame to hold it during pouring and a crank winch to raise/lower it during the pour.

Re: my t4 in a notch build

I filled my crucible up one time and it was too heavy to pour with the way I have the crucible set up (i couldn't get enough grip on the bar with the gloves).

I thought my dad made a lame purchase, but this has me thinking of getting the thing up and running. Show more pics of the plug you made for the manifold. Is it clay?

I still have to make it, I'm going to start with a type 1 style one since it's a lot simpler to cast. I'll be using wood, I tried to make one out of clay and it's addicted to crack, lol.

So while I was messing around with the wheel upgrade I discovered I had 2 bad tie rod ends. So I rebuilt them, you can see the fuel pump mount that I cast:

Then decided to take some scenic pics with the donks:

I just read on your blog that you run a half liter vacuum reservoir before your map sensor? Does it exhibit any delay?

I took that out, it dampned it too much. I am back to having all the TB's tee'd together.

Been following the build pretty closely but never noticed any remarks about your suspension setup.
Curious about rubbing with the new donks and What your setup for that stance is? I've been toying with short axles and narrowed trailing arms to achieve the same stance with either Twists or Phone dials.

Re: my t4 in a notch build
The suspension is stock SA, just a little lowered. The fronts rub the control arms at full lock(no big deal), and was rubbing against the inner fenderwell only when I hit a big bump. It is swingaxle so that wouldn't happen on a IRS setup. I "modified" the inner fender by kissing it with a 3lb hammer, the rubbing is gone now.
For the 7" wheels et55 seems to be the magic number. If your thinking about 16's and your on SA then you might have to use spacers in the back to clear the shock tower/inner fender. With 17's it is very, very close. The rim sits right above all that stuff, it's hard to explain.

I scored some more "junk" to mess around with. Sometime this week I'm going to fire up that motor (came with a POS progressive carb) and make sure the tranny goes through all 5 gears.
