Also thought that the original firewall was salvageable...
This as it was when I saved the molested split body back in 1996...

But had to fabricate a repairpanel from scratch as it was cut too short by previous owner...

As my skills have evolved I could not live with my old rustrepairs on the rear luggage shelf front corners so I ended up cutting out the old and fabricate new patches..

These were a bit if a challenge to weld in as I had already welded the Hebmuller rearseat frame to the body...

At this point I'm fabricating the firewall supports and other details in and around the enginebay.

This was the short version of what have happened the past year. Now I'm busy with some other stuff for a week so no progress until February for now...

"As my skills have evolved I could not live with my old rustrepairs"
was as much fun to read as it is to see the impressive fab work.

Amazing skill..
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Was going to weld some today. Almost finished welding the 20y old tackwelded seams over the cowl. But ran out of welding gas before I could finish the cowl....

Just a few inches more....

Oh well... Starts to look so much better when the seams starts to vanish!
