Hi all I just got my 73 S Beetle running been driving it for a week now this was my first air cooled build so I must have done something right. I have rust on the rear quarters under and behind the vents and on the C pillars next to the rear window so this will most likly end up as a daily driver. It is a stock type 1600dp built with all new parts starting with the case.

Welcome to STF! Congrats on getting your 73 SB on the road again, im sure it's alot of fun to drive. Post some pictures of it if you can.

I am located in bubba ville North (Upstate NY) and have finally gotten a kitchen pass from my loving wife to build a drag car for the 1/8th mile. This would be even better if I knew what I was doing but I guess it is time to teach an old dog new tricks. I plan on using a sand rail frame (already bought) and am shooting for around 175-200 horse power. I est the total weight of the car including the fat bas driving it will be 1200 lbs. Nice weight to horsepower if I can pull it off. Sorry but this is about all I know so the following post will be one question after another. Bark Bark (old dog saying Hello)

introduce myself ayye? Well my name is aaron and im kinda new to VWs. Ive been watchin this site for probably 6 months to try not to sound totally clueless and to gather as much information as possible for a hopefully very short in the future project. a couple of my co-workers are very sharp when it comes to dubs and they have quite possibly turned me from the dark side (big block big bodied 60s american cars) to the ideas of light cars + light drivetrians = easy to improve power to weight ratio. that and the cost of gas to lol. anyways, Im a tv and surround sound installer and im based in phoenix az. so needless to say ill probably be posting a lot of "how can i keep this thing super cool in 120+ heat" questions and possibly "hey I found a rust free bug anyone interested?" posts. getcha pull

Hello there! My name is James, I'm a construction worker from Sacramento. I had a 1969 Beetle dropped in my lap when my bro. went to jail. I haven't tinkered with VWs since I was in high school. My total experience is a stock rebuild on my '64 Bug( 1600cc d.p.) and helping my bro. rebuild the pancake motor in his Bus. Now I picked up a 914 1700cc from a neighbor for only $100 and have plans to install it in my bros. Bug while he is away. So this will be my first type 4 build up. I've been chatting in the 4rum and now I discovered this forum as well. I'm glad I'm not the only newbie around here.(':D')

Greetings all..... I am just getting back into the bug scene, I have been out of it for about 17 years. In a previous life (before marriage and grad school) I built a custom bug (mixed years!), and tended to a needy 71 Ghia. Since then I have had nothing to do with bugs until about 3 weeks ago when I purchased a 72 Bug. So I have been trying to catch up on my reading and dusting off the grey matter in regards to turning a wrench. I just dusted of my Muir and Bentley books, and have been reading them in my spare time.

Current ideas on the bug lower front end, disc brakes, muffler and header system (daily driver though). The motor was rebuilt less than 5000 miles ago so engine is in good shape. Any suggestions from anyone would be greatly accepted. Glad to be here around like minded people.

Hey I've had this '72 KG for about 2 years now and have been slowly working on bringing back to its former glory. We've worked on the little bits and pieces and I'm just starting to dig into the major components, so I'll have plenty of questions for everyone, I'm sure.

So far I've seen lots of good stuff in this forum!

Hi I'm new to the forum but not to VW. My first was a 62, but my favorite was a 64 soft top with a gas heater. I lived in Northern Minnesota and that heater was the greatest. Can't say much for the starting power of the 6 volt but It always started with lots of preporation. My latest is a 74 super beetle that I am using as a test platform for a Hydrogen from water project.
