Thanks Riaan surprisingly no I did keep the air close at all times and had a big fan blowing on me to keep the dust down since I wasn't wearing a mask.

Absoutlutely beautiful work Nate,can't wait to see the finished product. You are helping me find some motivation.

Finally back to the engine ended up getting two colds back to back really puts a damper on things. Painted and baked the fan shroud, threw a little compound and polish on it and it's got some shine:) fitted the lower tins and have to try and figure out something for the nasty gaps

I’m glad your back on your feet! I was on three in a row antibiotic courses late last year...the root was an allergy issue, but not fun at all!

That fan shroud looks very nice and so smooth! Is it a new one?

The covers on the sides on the bottom of the engine, I take it its ones you made? Will it help with the cooling by keeping and directing the airflow?

That sounds like a pita! Thanks the fan shroud is new, one of those 36hp units by empi I'm assuming. The lower tins are factory with the exception of the outer industrial tin I believe its called (the tin that goes in place of the heater boxes)

Well got a little work done, lower tins painted, crank pulley tin is drilled for the dub shop crankshaft position sensor(thanks again mario) and oil fitting. Also picked out some an fittings for the filter lines

Couldn't help but mock some of it together, I'm pretty happy with the results so far:) 6 more pieces of tin to paint!

Looks great Nate! I can only imagine that the itch to hear and see that engine run is getting more by the day and even more so to drive it

The wait to fire this motor is killing me! Id rather it take me a little longer and make sure I dont forget anything than rush it. Its raining tonight so no paint work for me tonight. Have a little more trimming on the rear tin and can throw a little polish on the head tins. Might as well set my thermostat flaps in on cyl 1/2 and hook up the thermostat. Get a little work in when I can:)

7/31 update
All the tin is painted, oil cooler on, o/p gauge fitted it's now time to tear apart the bug. Drove it for the last time this last Sunday with the stocker. Ended up pulling the back half off and almost have the trans out just 4 more bolts. The trans is a pro street freeway flyer from Wright gearbox out of California. I'm going to pull my axles and do some inspecting I think I may have cracked the side gear where the axle slides in from lowering my car without it rolling putting the axle in a bind(homebuilt air ride) I've got a nice clicking sound coming from the back when its rolling down the road. Also started picking at some rust and now I have to fix it.lol (lower rocker) so I've got a few things to do to keep me busy for a little while then I'll pull the motor up from under the house and bolt er up:)

That tinware looks cleaner than some of my dishes!! Looks great.
Curious of the oil pressure gauge placement. Seems like it will only do you any good at idle. Where did your stock oil pressure sensor go? No more idiot light? Did you have that case welded to move it from the stock location?
