I don’t think some electricity is gonna help. I thought about seat warmers but I have plastic seats with covers and I’m afraid they will melt.

Honestly as long as the wind isn’t blowing on me I don’t mind cold weather.

electric blanket I had a Mr Buddy heater bolted to the passenger floor ,worked great but 'steamed' up all the windows

Continuing on with my attempt at a digital dash.

I have been fine tuning my dash set up and working on a voltage divider so that I can have a working fail gauge.

Other then shattering my screen in two corners with an ill thought out mount setup. Whops!

My biggest problem is I keep getting this error and I’m not sure how to get past it.



It only does it with my dash / raspberry Pi not my laptop.

Any help would be appreciated!

Also fab work is started on the compound set up stay tuned!

It's looking for that *.ini file....Go to your TS folder on your regular laptop and find the file...transfer it to the PI with usb stick and put it in the correct folder.
It should then work.
If you can't find a specific file just copy over all the *.ini files and see if that works...

Well...

Found the ini file and got the Pi to connect only to have it crash directly after that. And continually not remember my project and crash about 10 more times before I moved on to other things.

I picked up some 2.5” tubing for working out the interstage piping.

And started working on making my bumper tie into the shock towers and not the firewall. I think I’m about 2 weekends away from mapping out locations then I can start on the actual fab work.

Anyone welded with there EFI system hooked up? I plan on pulling my negative just cause I’m afraid of frying my ECU.

I have.......I just shut off the battery and unplug the relay cable to the ECU.
I have a battery shutoff under the body by the battery though....Easy to get at but not easy to see especially for old farts.....

I welded mine with just the battery unhooked. Have to say i was nervous about it though.

Same...I had my battery disconnected and put the welders ground clamp as close as possible to where I was welding.

So I have been battling the VW for a bit now I lost the clutch leaving work the other day.

I lost a throw out bearing clip. Nothing like $1.50 part leaving you on the side of the road.




So throw out went back in with new clips all was good for about a week.

Went to go look at a new Daily Driver as the VW as of late is leaving a bit to be desired leaving my neighborhood and there was a snap and the pedal hit the floor. I limped it home.

Pulled the pedal assembly and the cable snapped at the Bowden tube. I’m SOL till Tuesday at the earliest!

I almost bought one the other day but didn’t cause I thought why waste the cash. Should have got it!

Well I’ll get an economy daily that should last me the next 10-15 years I hope!

It's just basic maintenance.........if you really think about it.

I broke my clutch cable after 15 years of driving.....who knows how many miles it had before I shortened it. It's maybe $20.00 so if you replace it every 5-10 yrs. it might not ever be an issue.
I also lost a throwout clip once. Beat the inside of the bellhousing and PP pretty good. It never stopped me from driving though. I also installed a new set of those plus safety wired them in.....not another problem. So far..........
I now have a spare clutch cable........somewhere......

Bummer! I bought a spare with my last order too. Or maybe i will put the new one in and keep the old one for a backup!
At least you got a daily now. But wait! All you need is a micro squirt and one of those extra turbos and maybe a set of injectors and that daily will rock and roll!!

It is for sure basic maintenance, it’s just the lack of parts availability that makes it an issue.

I’m convinced that is the part of what makes something a daily driver. If you can get parts easy then the vehicle is more likely to stay in the road.

Did you happen to check with your local parts store? They can get most stock stuff within the next day if they don't have it.
