After slapping my friend, I started to make holes in the intake in order to mount the injector holder in a more conventional location: Once I have decided how far into the intake I will mount them, I obviousely have to cut them to the right length: My original plan was to use small fuel rails on each side with short pieces of furel line going up to each injector.

I mocked up the 90 deg bends and as can be seen, the bends themselves will hit the shelf in the engine bay, so there is no way I have enough room for using rails... So I will have to reconsider, and think I will end up with a fuel distribution block behind the shroud, and individual fuel lines to each injector. Not ideal, but I will give it a go regardless.

I also got down under the car to replace the fuel lines, and this is a shot of the line where it is attached to the bulkhead AN fitting: Things are moving forward, and the snow is about to disappear

Slow progress this weekend, but I got half an hour tonight, so I landed on the following solution for the fuel supply:

The fuel enters through the bulkhead fitting and into the bottom of this piece of a fuel rail behind the shroud: Then it exits the top, and into the FPR.

I will have 4 lines coming out of the rail, and into each of the injector holders via a couple of hose ends like this: I dont have a decent drill press in my garage, so I will bring the rail to work tomorrow, and plan on spending the lunch break in the machine shop

yes, they are quite huge...

I spent yesterdays lunch break in the workshop, and the result was this christmas tree: I also finished cutting the holes in the intakes for the injector holders, so tomorrow I will bring them over to my friend's place again for welding.

Too bad you don't have the awesome 14mm injector drill bit, you could just make rails and weld on smaller bungs to the mani's, but your way will work too.

I will no doubt build more engines, so next time

Sure that fuel system is overkill, but you can't have too much overkill. I love what you have done with the manifolds and throttle bodies and the linkage.
Not every ITB system needs to be made of the same over the counter components.

Finally the manifolds came back from the welder, and I mocked up the engine on the bench for the last time yesterday.

I then drew all the fuel lines, and it gets kind of busy behind the shroud: The welds on the manifold don't look the best in the world, but they are air-thight, and that is the most important...

Here's a few shots of the fuel lines and how they connect to the injector holders: The HT ingition cables will be shortened and cleaned up once in the car.

Next now is to clean up the insides of the manifolds, to blend in the bungs better, then flat sand the surfaces against the head and TBs in case anything warped during welding. I will finish off with a quick round in the media blast cabinet.

I then stripped all the sheet metal off the engine again, and as soon as I can get a buddy to help me, the engine goes back into the car later this week.
