Hey, no not really on the engine. Some small mods on the car. Had some issues with the tires (no grip , so I changed them for semi-slicks last winter, that helped a lot I also changed the seat to a kirkey one, to not-be-all over the car.

Besides that I am also planning on a cage/rollbar and back to VW COP ignition, but mainly driving km's.

Weather has been bad here this spring, but I hope to drive the car a bit more soon.

Ok. I am looking to plan my t4 but I don't know if i should buy an 86mm crank or do a 80mm crank with large bore. Udo Becker says his 105 x 80 t4 engines can make 300hp naturally with aftermarket heads.

Hi Passatman, with aftermarket head you are less limited compared to modified stock ones. My challenge was to build a "as big as possible engine within reasonal budget". And I had some luck that a local tuner would supply big valve heads for a nice deal and 104 bore was advised as max at that moment due to warping of the cylinders at 105 bore during machining.

But the engine you want to build all depends on what you want to do with it. Bug/bus, street/strip/track etc. And the budget that you got to spend.

The engine will be a daily driver. I am thinking of going with deutz diesel liners this engine is for my 1200 beetle.

Always a hard choice what to do when you start collecting parts. Personally for a daily driver I would go standard to max. 78 stroke, Deutz liners 100/102 bore, modified 1700 heads, Riechert or 911 cooling, single throttlebody + turbo. (Guess what I got on the shelf here for a future project )

Hi Arnoud, For the 2.9 Otto vd Bergh did the flycutting for the heads, machining for double springs, and new seats + valves. I did the porting + reshaping the chambers for the correct cr myself. (Sort of 2.5 hrs driving one way local )
