2.0 ltr. Disrtibutor

How does the type 3 D-jet Dist. compare with the D-jet 914 model? The numbers are different and the Vac can is smaller and advance only. But what about the mechanical advance compared to the type 3 model?
I'm installing a 2.0 liter into a '76, and the distributor was lost when the new owner got the car.I have some type 3 units that plug in the same for the fuel injection triggers, but I would like to know how much trouble I should go to track down these extinct 914 units.I've read that the retard is good for best function on decel. What else should I be considering?

The positioning of teh vacuum can on the type 3 is somehwat different and generally does not fit on teh type 4 engine with proper timing without changing the distributor drive slightly. Also, the vacuum cans are different for type 3 and 4 and the mechanical curve is different. But you can swap teh cans....and re-curve and respring the mechanical section quite easily. The next problem is that the trigger points are set at slightly different positions. You can slot the holes in the trigger plate to get some slight adjustment....about 10*. This helps to settle the idle.
Also...and dizzy from a 411/412 will drop right in. look for 022 905 205 P or Q. Ray

You might try calling partsheaven.com in Hayward, Ca. They have everthing. Some stuff is cheap, sometimes it's expensive. Worth a call to see if it's in the cheap category.
