For the curious racers out there, here is some Temple Raceway history and information...

Temple Raceway (AKA "Little River") is an IHRA sanctioned track in central Texas, that has been in existence since 1957. The drag strip has covered bleachers next to it, and is surrounded by lots of grass and large shade trees.

Back in the day, Temple Raceway was the site of many match races between famous drivers/cars, including John Force, Don Garlits, Shirley Muldowney, and more.

Here are some pics of the track (from March 2006):
Starting Line
Down track
Bleachers

Texas VW racer David Crow has made more passes than he can count in a number of cars at Temple Raceway over the years, including going as fast as a 10.0 @ 138mph 1/4 mile run in his Pro Stock Karmann Ghia

Here are a couple of videos from a VW race that was held at Temple Raceway in May of 2006:
6.90 @ 100mph 1/8 mile pass
7.02 @ ~95mph 1/8 mile pass (BTW, that's me in the borrowed, blue '64 street car - not fast, but fun none the less)

To view a race report and photos from this race at ACDRM.com, click here.

The following is a list of just a few events, associations, and cars that have run at Temple Raceway:
-- IHRA Summit ET Racing Series
-- Outlaw Doorslammer Shootout (track record is 4.275 @ 165.56mph)
-- Texas Outlaw Pro Mod and Top Sportsman Association
-- "Little Pooch" True 10.5" Series - wild, nitrous or turbocharged cars (some with 1000+ HP) running on a 10.5" tires.
-- Fuel Altereds

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!

John and Lester over at Lo' Cash Racing have upped the ante again.

They will award another $100 cash prize to the "cosmetically challenged" entry with the best reaction time in the Oak Hill Automotive Street class.

That means that for only a $10 entry fee, you can run for fun during open Time Trials, compete in the Street class, and have a chance at taking home up to $300.

Car Show News:
Texas VW enthusiast and event organizer, Paul Smith, is assisting with the show car portion of the Texas Volks Blast. Thanks, Paul!

All car show participants will receive one free tech card. This will allow show entrants to make one, or as many runs they like down the Temple Academy drag strip during Time Trials.

Whether you like to go fast or slow, taking your car down the drag strip is a lot of fun, and makes for a great photo/video opportunity. It doesn't have to be hard on you or your car, and if you have questions, there will be plenty of friendly people on hand who'll be happy to help.

Racing News:
Free tech cards for show car class participants. See above.

Don't forget about the two $100 cash prizes up for grabs in the Street class, from Lo' Cash Racing, that'll go to a couple of "cosmetically challenged" entries.

Sponsor News:
CB Performance is on board with the Texas Volks Blast, and will be the title sponsor of the CB Performance VW Bracket racing class.
Barry Blythe and Blythe Enterprises (Garland, TX -- 972.333.5063) is our latest Silver level sponsor.
The support from CB Performance and Blythe Enterprises is much appreciated!

Vendor News:
As an incentive to attend what's sure to be a big, first time event, fees have been reduced:
$100.00 for New Parts Sales vendors
$50.00 for Apparel & Toy Sales vendors
Both include one general admission ticket.

As always, keep an eye on the event website for all the latest info -- http://www.texasvolksblast.com
