I just scored a 914 conversion engine.
I'm guessing this will work with a bus tranny when the gear is flipped.
Are there any other steps to go between the 914 and t2?
Any commnets are appreciated.

I'm not sure what you're asking.
You got what kind of engine? Mazda? Stock 914?
It's going into a what? A Bus? A 914? A Mazda of some type?
Use the late Type II clutch and flywheel and transmission if you're going to put the 914 engine into a Bus or similar rear-engine'd application.
Use the 914 clutch, flywheel, and transmission if you're going to put it into a mid-engine'd application, or a longitudinal FWD application with the engine in front of the transaxle.
If you're doing other stuff, you need to be more specific.

Apologies..
I have a Mazda Rotary engine that was converted for a 914.
I want o install the Mazda Rotary engine into a T2 gear box (not a 914 that it was set up for).
Use the late Type II clutch and flywheel and transmission if you're going to put the 914 engine into a Bus or similar rear-engine'd application.
Sounds like I'd need a new flywheel to convert to a T2 box.

The Mazda, AFAIK, spins the same way as the Bus motor and the 914 motor. So you don't have to reverse anything; the "reversal" for the rear-engined versus mid-engined application is done inside the transmission.
The conversion flywheel and clutch that would be required to mate the Maza motor with the 914 transmission are different than those that would be used on the Bus transmission. I would suggest talking to the people at Kennedy Engineering Products about what flywheel and clutch are needed.
BTW, rotary engines need as much cooling (or more!) as a big V8! Plan accordingly.

Still uncertain what the plan is for the engine.. it may be put on hold for a bit while we figure out what we have.

FYI I had a 73 Mazda RX3 for many years. I had the preasure of lowering the tire presssure out on the great south park and traveling at faster that 160 mph .. After three rebuilds I parked it under a tarp with plans to use it in a VW application. Now it is gone and those dreams are gone with it. Kennedy is the solution to your hook up. The 914 has a diff that reverses the direction of the spin to make up for the trans being on the other side of the engine... You can mat a Maza with a 091 trans using Kennedy parts.. i look forward to hearing how your project goes forward. Keep in mind that the Rotary motor looses its seals after about 20K miles. But for the first 10K it has a power curve that is a kick in the pants. I had mine a 10k rpm and it just kept gaining power.. For a short time...

If you have the adapter and flywheel for a 914 tranny, it will bolt in and work in a 091 bus tranny. (with the bus/914 starter(same unit) to match the tranny)
It probably has the 228mm clutch. If it's a 200/215, it will simply bolt in, or the FW ring gear gear MIGHT need trimmed back a few mm, depending on if they modded a 914 215mm flywheel or Vanagon/T4 228.
A 002 bus tranny might require a bellhousing/input shaft swap, depends on exactly wht you have.

I have a 6 rib.. wasn't 100% sure a 914 bellhousing and 091 were the same.
Someday when I get rich, will pick up the 914
