to start of not to start?

Post by Piper »

Been told to take the batter out of my bus and leave it alone until spring, so condensation doesn't form in the oil pan, and been told to start is every weekend, and let it run until it gets to the running temp. Anyone know the right answer?

I used my bay seasonally for years. All I ever did was remove the battery. Never had any problems doing so. In the spring I would crank it with the fuel system disabled until I got oil pressure. This way it wouldn't load the bearing until they had received lube.

How would one disable the fuel system? I have like, no mechanical knowledge.

I am sure there are other ways that some might like better, but unplugging the harness from the ECU should do the job pretty well.

The easiest is to pull the plug from the fuel pump. the only issue I have with pulling theECU plug unnecessarily is that on both D and L-jet...especially D-jet but both....every time you pull the plug it can noticably change connectivity. The terminal design had issues that bad. Ray
